Membrane Electrode Assembly Electrolytic Cells EC-MEA2

A general-purpose MEA electrolytic cell with graphite flow fields for configurable reactant distribution and mass-transport research.

Product Overview

The EC-MEA2 is a general-purpose MEA electrolytic cell for CO₂ electroreduction, alkaline anion-exchange-membrane water electrolysis, fuel-cell evaluation and related electrochemical conversion studies. Internal high-purity isostatic graphite plates form the conductive reactant flow fields, while outer titanium fixture plates provide mechanical clamping. Multiple flow-field geometries and sizes support comparative mass-transport, water-management and catalyst-performance studies. Heating and temperature-measurement ports in the outer titanium plates enable controlled-temperature laboratory testing.

Key Features

High-Purity Graphite Flow-Field Plates
High-purity isostatic graphite plates provide conductive flow channels for uniform reactant distribution in MEA-based electrochemical testing.

Customizable Flow-Field Design
Supports serpentine, parallel, vein-pattern, spiral, mesh and comb-type channels for mass-transport and water-management studies.

Layered Graphite–Titanium Construction
Internal graphite flow-field plates are enclosed by outer titanium fixture plates, providing stable mechanical clamping for repeatable MEA assembly.

Flow-Field Water Management in Zero-Gap CO₂ Electrolysis
Xu et al. compared parallel, serpentine and lizard-inspired graphite cathode flow fields in a custom zero-gap CO₂ electrolyzer with a stainless-steel anode flow field. At 2.25 cm², the lizard-inspired design achieved a CO partial current density of 165.5 mA cm⁻² at 200 mA cm⁻² and maintained approximately 81.3% CO Faradaic efficiency for 24 h. Scale-up to 5.06 cm² was demonstrated at current densities up to 400 mA cm⁻².
